Bridge party MP Miro Bulj on Monday directed a question at Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic in which he says that the government must stop financing the Serb National Council (SNV) because its members are making statements that question the idea of the establishment of Croatia.
Bridge issued a press release in which MP Bulj sent the PM a question regarding a comment on social networks by Dejan Jovic, a member of the SNV Advisory Council, which is chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Boris Milosevic, and which, the press release says, Plenkovic’s government generously finances with more than HRK 3.5 million a year.
Dejan Jovic, who, Bridge says, was a candidate (in the May 2019 elections for the European Parliament) of the Independent Democratic Serb Party (SDSS), the Croatian Democratic Union’s (HDZ) coalition partner, tweeted that he agreed with publicist and writer Pero Kvesic’s statement, given in an interview with Vecernji List daily, that not only is Croatia a failed project but that the very notion of establishing it was “retarded and unnatural,” and that “you cannot have a bad idea and expect it to turn out well.”
“Apart from Jovic sharing Kvesic’s interview and tweeting those parts that describe the establishment of Croatia as a bad, retarded and unnatural idea that could not bring any good, Jovic stated that Kvesic’s interview was excellent, ” said Bulj, noting that he expected Plenkovic to respond as soon as possible and stop financing SNV, “whose members make statements that question the idea of the establishment of the Croatian state for which, I, together with many of my compatriots fought for and for which many of them gave their lives and health.”
“At a time of historical trends that led to expansion and mutual permeation, a time of high-speed globalisation, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the erasing of borders and integration of economic, scientific and transport systems, to come up with the idea of fragmentation was not only anti-historical but also stupid,” Kvesic said in the interview, among other things.
