In the last 24 hours, out of 6,453 tests performed for coronavirus in Slovenia, 1,813, that is 28%, have returned positive, while 49 Covid-related deaths have occurred, bringing the death toll to 1,998, the government reported on Friday.

Currently, there are 1,268 Covid-19 patients in hospitals, ten more than on Thursday, and of them, 196 are being treated in intensive care wards.

The percentage of positive tests and the number of new cases have remained high, which is why all the restrictions imposed in late October will remain in force.

Slovenia’s chief infectious disease specialist, Bojana Beovic, told local media that the efficiency of the measures depended many factors, including the discipline of the population and adherence to restrictions.
