We talked with the CEO of Telemach Croatia, Adrian Jezina, about the new EON platform, made available on the Croatian market as of Thursday, which allows users to watch N1 Television.
“I am very pleased to say that, in cooperation with our partner company Solford Alpine GmbH from Austria, we have managed to bring the most popular OTT platform to Croatia. This platform is award-winning, with a first-class user experience, and it is available anywhere, anytime, from any device “, said Jezina.
More than 160 channels on offer
He added that on smart TVs the EON platforms works as an app, and for users with non-smart TVs, a separate STB device is needed to access the platform, which can be purchased at any Telemach store.
“EON offers more than 160 channels, and content can be replayed and watched 7 days back. In addition to news channel N1, there is also the Sport Klub sports package, as well as Discovery, which has not been present in our market for many years. We offer a large selection of programs that meet users’ needs, and all that one needs to access the service is an Internet connection “, said Jezina.
“If the TV is older, and does not offer “smart” funcionality, an STB device is available for purchase at our stores. I invite users to go to the EON.tv platform and get all the information there “, said Jezina and explained how EON works.
“We offer a 30-day free trial period. I believe that few people will go back after trying it out. It is one of the platforms with most awards won. If you love sports, this allows you to keep track of sports statistics, replay goal, and the like, at any time. We also have kids mode, which has safety features for children and allows parents to customize the availability of certain kinds of content. It also features a recommendation engine, which offers viewers content similar to the one they have already seen. It offers many, many options, and it is a very successful platform in the rest of the region – so we don’t see a reason as to why it would not be made available in Croatia as well,” Jezina said.
What is OTT?
Viewers have access to all the most important television channels and a large catalog of video content.
“I am also glad that people will be able to follow N1 anywhere, anytime and on any device,” Jezina said, and explained what OTT is.
“It’s a type of technology, like, say, Netflix, that everyone knows about. That’s OTT, YouTube is OTT, DisneyPlus is OTT… It is the basis for all these platforms that are becoming dominant. They have everything in them, in an intuitive way, which suits users,” Jezina said.
“This service is provided by Salford. We as Telemach have started working on the infrastructure, by building a 10 Gb optical network and modernizing our mobile network. We wish to offer this as part of a package with TV content. That is why we are waiting for the Croatian law to change, to allow vertical integration, which isn’t ergulated like this anywhere else in Europe, so that we can compete with our services on the Croatian market,” Jezina added.
