Slovenian government said on Thursday that there would be no more easing of coronavirus restrictions just yet, and announced that the official state of pandemic emergency - which was supposed to end on 18 March - would be extended by at least one more month.
“All anti-epidemic measures will remain in force, including the curfew from 9 pm to 6 am. However, shortening the curfew by 60 minutes in the coming weeks due to longer days so that the daily curfew starts at at 10 pm instead is currently considered,” Slovenia’s government said.
Primary and secondary schools resumed in-person classes last week and shops are still open. Cafes and restaurants closed, except in two regions in the southeast of the country where they allowed to serve customers as long as they are seated outdoors.
On Thursday, Slovenia recorded 860 new cases and four deaths, bringing the total death toll to date to 3,908.
The number of active cases stands at 10,486. There are 485 Covid patients in hospital care, including 92 in intensive care units.
To date, slightly over 150,000 people in Slovenia have been vaccinated against Covid-19. In order to speed up the vaccination of the country’s 2 million population, the government decided that individuals who had previously recovered from a Covid-19 infection would from now on get only one dose of vaccine, instead of the prescribed two.
