Croatia's gambling and betting industry had generated 4.1 billion kuna (€540 million) in revenues in 2019, or 115 percent up from 2010, state agency Hina reported on Monday, citing randomly released data from the state's financial agency Fina.
According to Fina, there were 70 gambling and sports betting companies operating in Croatia in 2019. Their revenues that year totaled 4.1 billion kuna (€540 million) and their expenses 3.2 billion kuna (€422 million).
The sector’s net profit in 2019 was 727 million kuna (€96 million).
The highest total revenue in 2019 was posted by Super Sport sports betting chain, 847 million kuna (€112 million). They were followed by the state lottery Hrvatska Lutrija with 636 million kuna (€84 million).
The highest net profits were posted by Super Sport – 432 million kuna (€57 million) – and Hattrick-PSK sports betting chain, 156 million kuna (€20 million).
State news agency Hina did not cite any figures for profits earned by the state lottery Hrvatska Lutrija.
The entire sector employed 6,749 people in 2019, and on average they were paid a net salary of 5,872 kuna (€775) in 2019, or 48 percent up from 2010, when it was 3,963 kuna (€523).
