Five of the eight football fans arrested for singing an Ustasha song at last week's First Division match between Dinamo and Gorica were given conditional sentences by Velika Gorica County Court on Tuesday, while rulings for the remaining three are expected on Wednesday.
Five Dinamo fans, known as Bad Blue Boys, were sentenced to 60 days in prison, suspended for one year, pending appeal, three were banned from attending Dinamo and Croatian national football team matches for a year, and two would not be allowed to attend matches for the next two years.
According to media reports, three fans will be remanded in prison for another ten days, and two have been released. One of the two fans who were given a two-year ban had previously been banned from attending Dinamo and national football team matches for a year.
The police said earlier that the eight fans had been arrested for violating the Prevention of Rioting at Sports Events Act by singing songs during a football match whose content expresses or incites hatred or violence based on racial, national, regional or religious affiliation.
