In April 2021, consumer prices in Croatia increased by 2.1 percent, the state statistics bureau reported on Friday.
After inflation had inched up 0.3 percent in February, and 1.2 percent in March, April was the third month in a row registering an increase in consumer prices year-on-year. April’s was mainly due to a 10.7 percent jump in prices of transport.
Year-on-year the price of alcohol and tobacco products increased by 6 percent in April, “recreation and culture” 2.2 percent; prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels went up 1.4 percent, restaurants and hotels 1.3 percent, health care 1.2 percent, and communications 1.1 percent.
On the other hand, the price of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which account for the greatest portion of the consumer basket (27.2 percent), dropped 0.6 percent year-on-year.
Over the first four months of 2021 taken as a whole, consumer prices inched up 0.8 percent year-on-year.
