A recent poll showed that more than half of Croatians have plans to cut back on their Easter holiday spending, state agency Hina reported on Friday.
According to a survey released by the retail trade magazine Ja Trgovac and the Hendal market research agency as many as 54 percent of Croatians polled said they would reduce spending in the run-up to the Easter holiday.
Nearly one in four (23 percent) said they planned to spend 400-499 kuna (€53-€66) on Easter-related shopping. Another 16 percent said they would spend 300-399 kuna (€39-€53) and 17 percent said they would spend 200-299 (€26-€39).
One in ten said they planned to spend 600-999 kuna (€79-€132), and merely 3 percent are ready to splurge more than 1,000 (€132) on gifts, food, and festivities.
The proportion of Croatians who said they would do their Easter shopping in large supermarkets was 59 percent, down from 66 percent 12 months ago, possibly indicating a shift in consumer habits brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.
