Ten people had died when a bus with Kosovo licence plates ran off the highway near Slavonski Brod, Croatia, Sunday morning, Croatian Civil Protection Agency Director Damir Trut confirmed to the press.
Trut said there were 67 passengers on the bus. Nine passengers and one of the two drivers were killed, and 44 people were admitted to the Slavonski Brod hospital. Four of the eight seriously injured were operated on, while 14 passengers and one driver were in the police station in Slavonski Brod.
He also confirmed that there were children on board, but did not want to talk about them in more detail.
According to him, the column of cars is now several kilometres long. Some passengers are being diverted, and the police have confirmed that one lane of the highway towards Lipovac will be opened within half an hour to 45 minutes.
