Average monthly net salary paid to employees in Zagreb was 7,082 kuna (944 euros) in December 2017, the city's strategic planning office said on Tuesday (March 20).
This is 1.9 percent down from the previous month, but 4.9 percent up from December 2016. Compared to the Croatian national December average, which was 5,973 kuna (796 euros), the average salary in Zagreb was 18.6 percent higher.
According to the city’s statistics bureau, the average net salary for the whole of 2017 was 6,962 kuna in Zagreb, or 5.9 percent up from the year before.
By sectors, the highest salaries were paid out in the oil and gas industry (11,539 kuna), followed by pharmaceutical (10,266 kuna) and financial services (10,316 kuna). On the bottom of the list were the clothing industry (3,897 kuna) and security services (3,938 kuna).
Average gross salary in December 2017 amounted to 9,924 kuna, which is 2.4 percent down from November and 5.7 percent up from the same month the year before. This was also 23.2 percent higher than the national gross salary average, which was 8,052 in December.
