The Southeast Europe should remain in focus, regardless of the fact that major crises are taking place outside the European continent, said the Croatian Foreign and European Affairs Minister, Marija Pejcinovic-Buric on Tuesday after meeting with the president of the U.N. General Assembly, Miroslav Lajcak.

Pejcinovic-Buric is in New York City, where she took part in a high-level meeting on building and maintaining peace, conflict prevention, the restructuring of the UN and the advancing partnership between the UN and key stakeholders in those processes.

“President Lajcak and I agreed that bigger focus must be placed on the stability in the region of Southeast Europe. Although major crises are taking place outside the European continent, we must not leave Southeast Europe out of focus, given that situation there is not entirely peaceful either,” Pejcinovic-Buric said.

The meeting in the U.N. brought together representatives of government, civil society, the private sector, regional organisations and the academic community.
