Airports in Croatia handled nearly 230,000 passengers in February, up by 13.9 percent compared to February 2017, and a total of 481,000 passengers in the first two months of 2018, or up by 14.7 percent year-on-year, state statistics bureau said on Thursday.
The busiest was Zagreb Airport which logged 169,600 passengers in February, or 10 percent up from the same period last year. The second and third busiest wwere airports serving Split, with 29,100 passengers, and Dubrovnik, with 24,200, increasing their traffic by 28.5 and 6.2 percent respectively.
The bureau also tracks data on passengers by airports of origin or destination, and said the largest portion of air travellers in February came from or left for German airports, some 61,300, or 17.7 percent up from the same period last year.
Passenger traffic with French airports came in second, with 12,512 passengers recorded, or 18.9 up year-on-year, while the traffic with British airports dropped by 27.2 percent to 9,610 passengers.
The overall cargo turnover was 868 tonnes, or 70.9 percent up from February 2017.
