President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said on Monday that the National Security Council (VNS) had instructed intelligence services to prepare special measures and guidelines for the communication media used by state officials.
Grabar-Kitarovic’s statement came after the VNS had met behind closed doors earlier in the day.
Earlier this month, Grabar-Kitarovic had commented on the Hotmail affair which involved leaked e-mail correspondence of former Economy Minister Martina Dalic with consultants who had drafted the controversial Lex Agrokor bill in early 2017, and called into question the security of state officials’ e-mail communication via Hotmail’s e-mail service.
“We instructed the secret service, including the Intelligence and Security Agency and the Office for National Security, to prepare special measures, recommendations and a legal framework for the use of various media that officials use in communication and for the security of classified information,” the president said after the meeting.
She added that she would send a written recommendation that a special cabinet meeting should be convened on the subject of population drain.
“I would like us to create a synergy (with the government) because I believe that demography is an issue that requires consensus, as a basis for strong development policies,” Grabar-Kitarovic added.
