A quarter of the 1,800 respondents polled by a recent survey conducted by the MojPosao.hr job hunting website said they prefer flexible hours as the most desirable job benefit, while one in five opted for education paid by employer and work-from-home options to be the best benefits.
Although the respondents were offered answers such as higher wages, improved work conditions, or other perks offered by employers, 23 percent said that they valued the most the option to work flexible hours.
They said they valued flexible hours and good work-life balance the most as this enables easier performing of their private life duties such as caring for children or elderly members of their households.
As many as 22 percent of those polled cited free education as the best benefit, especially when employers cover the costs of the doctorate-level education, or are prepared to cover the cost of research their employees may conduct.
Besides these, opportunities for promotion are also highly attractive, according to the survey.
Furthermore, 21 percent found the work-from-home option to be the most desirable benefit of a potential job, as this could also help achieve a better work-life balance, and working from home also means they could work in a more peaceful environment. In addition, no time is lost on commuting, and ability to focus on the task at hand is also better at home, said one of the respondents.
One in ten said they prefer the benefit of using a company car, as owning a private vehicle comes at a considerable cost. Also, 9 percent said they wanted more vacation time.
Seven percent said they prefer free snacks and drinks at work, as they usually spend a lot on that, and 5 percent cited free parking space, paid public transport, or free weekends. Merely 3 percent said they want employers to give them free gym memberships, or free yoga or other entertainment activities, said the website.
