Cooperation between the Croatian police and Europol is getting stronger, as shown by the fact that more and more operations are carried out in coordination between the two institutions, Interior Minister Davor Bozinovic said in Zagreb on Wednesday after meeting with Europol's Executive Director Catherine De Bolle.
“This meeting was an opportunity for us to discuss a number of issues important for improving efficiency and cooperation in preventing and combating organised crime and terrorism, as well as other forms of crime that affect several member states, which then becomes Europol’s job,” Bozinovic told a press conference after the meeting.
Europol, founded in 1999, is the European Union’s law enforcement agency based in The Hague. It provides assistance to national authorities in implementing laws and combating serious and organised forms of crime.
“Europol is the primary channel for police cooperation and exchange of intelligence between member states. In Croatia, we have our own national unit for cooperation which includes exchanging the best standards and practices,” the minister said.
Bozinovic said that their cooperation was increasing and becoming more efficient by the day. “This is shown by the fact that we carry out more and more operations together with Europol, which is crucial for security,” he concluded.
