
Economic sentiment deteriorated in Europe and Croatia in June 2018 due to markedly weaker services and consumer confidence, showed the European Commission survey results released on Thursday.
The Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) is a composite indicator made up of five sectoral confidence indicators with different weights: Industrial confidence indicator, Services confidence indicator, Consumer confidence indicator, Construction confidence indicator Retail trade confidence indicator.
In June 2018, ESI in Croatia dropped by 1.5 points in comparison with May 2018, to 116.5. Services confidence fell by 7.4 points to 17.1 and Consumer confidence dropped by 4.2 points to 10.5.
On the other hand, Industry confidence went up by 1.8 points to 12.1 and Retail trade confidence increased by 1.6 points to 19.4. Construction confidence rose by 1.3 points to 13.9.
In the EU the indicator edged down by 0.6 points to 112.2. Consumer confidence dropped by 1.2 points, Services confidence dropped by 1 percent, and Construction confidence fell by 0.6 percent.
Retail trade confidence, on the other hand, went up 1.4 points, while Industry confidence was unchanged.
