Night of the Full Moon festival to start in Zadar

The Night of the Full Moon, a festival of traditional food, customs and culture in the Adriatic city of Zadar, will take place this year on July 26-28, with the central event on Saturday, July 28, the night of the full moon.

Every year in high summer, on the night of the full moon, the public lighting is shut off and the Zadar waterfront is lit by torches and candlelight.

Traditional seafood dishes, like mussels, clams, tuna from the surrounding islands, will be offered on boats, which will be turned into floating markets.

Rustic, temporary taverns will be set up as well, where local producers will display traditional dishes and ingredients, such as local cheeses, figs, and rakija (a strong spirit).

Thousands of visitors expected to come will also be able to enjoy old songs and dances along the city promenade.
