Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic on Thursday commented on the disappearance of a case file from 2011 about information leaks in a police investigation on an elite prostitution ring, saying that light must be shed on this case, and that those responsible must be identified.
Asked by reporters in Sibenik whether it is normal for a judicial body to displace a document, and whether someone should be held responsible, Plenkovic briefly said; “Not it isn’t normal, and someone should be held accountable.”
Plenkovic said he does not know if this points to a cover up, and added that he expects the state attorney to clarify this matter.
Asked how long is he prepared to wait for the investigation to develop, before doing something about it within his party ranks in order to avoid damage to the party polling, considering that the missing documents case involves Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) number two official Milijan Brkic, Plenkovic briefly said “we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. We will see about the ratings.”
“It all needs to be clarified and cleared up. Sometimes I get the impression that every single thing that happened during Croatia’s transition – from the economy, to topics like these – keeps coming back to resurface right during our time in office. And we will clear things up, I have no reservations about that, on the contrary,” Plenkovic said.
“But, first of all, all the facts need to be determined, as these are not things to be solved based on impressions, or circumstantial elements. We need to clearly see all the facts. When we undoubtedly have all the facts, nly then can we make any conclusions,” Plenkovic told reporters.
