The president of the GLAS political party, Anka Mrak-Taritas said in the southern Croatian coastal city of Split on Friday that her party advocated early election, adding, however, it was difficult to expect that they would actually take place but one must always be prepared for them.

As the Opposition, we advocate early elections as they represent an opportunity for changes, but we need to be realistic and know that the incumbent government, led by the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), is tightly connected and there are a lot of people in the government who are aware that they would not be able to sit in parliament ever again (…) so it is difficult to expect that early election would be held, but one must always be prepared for it,” Mrak-Taritas said.

“At this moment, HDZ is making irreversible damage,” she added.

She briefly commented on the latest text messages scandal, saying that the HDZ was using state institutions for settling scores within its own party.
