Heads of states and governments of the European Union arrived in Brussels for the European Council meetings on October 17 and 18, which focused on the current developments in the Union.

Following the Thursday session, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said he raised the subject of the Bosnia's October 7 general election, particularly the election of the Croat member of the country's state Presidency.

“I explained we were worried about the situation in which the Bosniaks, who are a majority people in the Federation (of Bosnia and Herzegovina) elected a representative of the Croat people in the Presidency against the will of Bosnian Croats,” Plenkovic said following the meeting pointing out that the majority in the meeting understood the depth of the issue and that some officials, including EU High Representative Federica Mogherini “supported the intervention.”

“We can confirm that Prime Minister Plenkovic put this issue on the summit's agenda. For now, we have no further information we could present in the public. It is our understanding that the whole matter will now be taken over by High Representative, Mrs Mogherini,” Donald Tusk's office told N1.

Plenkovic announced on Thursday he would discuss the issue in depth, along with other topics important for the neighbourhood, with Tusk and Mogherini.
