The government on Thursday nominated Ivana Maletic as the Croatian candidate for a member of the European Court of Auditors for a term from 2019 to 2025.
The government submitted its proposal to parliament for adoption, in line with the law on cooperation between the Croatian parliament and government in European affairs.
Established in Luxembourg in 1975, European Court of Auditors is EU’s audit agency, tasked with monitoring the implementation of the EU budget, and checking whether the EU funds are spent legally.
Maletic currently serves as a Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) member of the European Parliament.
The term of the current Croatian member of the European Court of Auditors, Neven Mates, expires on July 14.
