An MP from the populist Zivi Zid party, Damjan Vucelic, called out labour and pension system minister nominee Josip Aladrovic on Thursday, saying that as head of the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute (HZMO) he knew of wrongdoings in the HZMO.
“Nothing much is changing with the departure of criminal ministers because the new ministers replacing them are literally the same,” Vucelic told reporters.
He said that Zivi Zid had filed a criminal complaint with anti-corruption police Uskok a year ago against Aladrovic and others, accusing them of wrongdoings in public procurement, abuse of office, preferential treatment, influence peddling, and criminal association.
Vucelic said HZMO employees filed a criminal complaint against Aladrovic on June 13 last year and asked the party for help in a letter in which they, he added, claimed that Aladrovic, as head of the HZMO, was responsible for “an unprecedented degree of crime at the Institute.”
The HZMO told state news agency Hina that Uskok had dismissed the criminal complaint in their case.
