
In May 2019, the volume of construction works increased by 5.8% on the year and decreased by 1.4% on the month, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics said on Monday, citing provisional data.
The year-on-year growth was the result of a 5.5% increase in construction work on buildings and a 6.4% increase in civil engineering works. Month on month, construction on buildings dropped 0.7% and civil engineering works dropped 2.4%.
In May 2019, 54.5% of man-hours was spent on new constructions, 45.5% on reconstructions, repair works and maintenance of existing constructions, 51.3%, on buildings and 48.7% on civil engineering works.
In the first five months of 2019, 53.6% of man-hours was spent on new constructions, 46.4% on other works, 52.3% on buildings and 47.7% on civil engineering works.
