Croatia's January-November 2019 exports rise by 5.5%, imports by 4.7%

Croatia exported 105.1 billion kuna worth of commodities in the first eleven months of 2019, an increase of 5.5 percent compared to the same period of 2018, while imports rose by 4.7 percent to 170.8 billion kuna, the state statistics bureau reported on Thursday.

The trade deficit in the period amounted to 65.7 billion kuna, 2.1 billion higher than in the first eleven months of 2018. Coverage of imports by exports increased from 61 percent in 2018 to 61.5 percent in 2019.

Exports to EU member states amounted to 72.2 billion kuna, up 5.2 percent on the year, while exports to non-EU countries rose by 6.1 percent to 32.9 billion kuna.

Imports from EU member states increased by 7.9 percent to 136.7 billion kuna, while imports from non-EU countries fell by 6.7 percent to 33.9 billion kuna.

Expressed in euro, exports in the first eleven months of 2019 totalled €14.2 billion, or 5.6 percent more than in the same period of 2018, while imports went up by 4.8 percent to €23 billion. The trade deficit was €8.9 billion, an increase of about €300 million compared with the first eleven months of 2018.
