Thirteen people have been diagnosed with Covid-19 in Slovenia in the last 24 hours, the country's government said on Twitter on Wednesday.

Today, there were two fewer cases than on the previous day, when 15 new cases were reported, the largest number in the last two months.

With the latest infections, the total number of people positive for Covid-19 has climbed to 1,613. Since the start of the epidemic, more than 100,000 tests have been conducted, including 1,399 in the last 24 hours.

The country’s health ministry estimates that there are currently 110 active cases of Covid-19. Eight people are receiving hospital treatment but none of them are on ventilators.

Following the increase in the number of new infections, Slovenia on Tuesday reintroduced a ban on public gatherings of more than 50 people, except for organised events with security guards and social distancing and special permission from the national public health institute.

In order to warn believers about the need to avoid risks at religious events, Slovenian bishops have recommended that those parishes that can do so, hold masses and bigger gatherings outdoors, with a maximum 500 people in attendance.
