Another Croat political party was founded in Montenegro on Friday, led by Marija Vucinovic, who 18 months ago was dismissed as the president of the then only Croat party in the country.

The Croatian Reform Party of Montenegro said in a press release it was founded at the proposal of a significant number of members of the Croatian ethnic minority “with the basic goal to restore trust in their political representatives and the original civic concept.”

The party will be led by Vucinovic, a minister without a portfolio in the Montenegrin government, and Rade Maric, director of Tivat Airport.

For many years Vucinovic was the president of the then only Croatian political party in Montenegro, the Croatian Civic Initiative. Eighteen months ago she was dismissed from the post after a clash with the party’s incumbent president Adrian Vuksanovic and the leader of the Croatian National Council of Montenegro, Zvonimir Dekovic.

The new party will run in a parliamentary election called for August 30. It said it would fight for the one seat guaranteed for the political representative of the Croatian ethnic minority for which the threshold is 0.3% of those who vote.
