Montenegro records more coronavirus cases in one day than in entire first wave

Montenegro on Friday recorded 344 new cases of the coronavirus which is more in one day than the total number recorded in the entire first wave of the epidemic in mid-March to the end of May in that country when it recorded 324 cases in all.

Half of today’s number was recorded in the capital and if this trend continues it could be included in the red zone which means introducing restrictive measures such as closing hospitality premises and introducing a curfew.

There are currently 3,828 active cases in the country which is 608 to 100,000 population, local health authorities have informed and three deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours.

The death toll in Montenegro now stands at 194, they added.
