Great Britain is in lockdown, and four years after the Brexit referendum there is still no agreement on the post-Brexit trade deal with the European Union. As the deadline looms, Brexit's chief architect, Dominic Cummings, moved out of Downing Street carrying a cardboard box with his belongings. Deputy Director at the UK in a Changing Europe think tank, Tim Bale, talked to N1 television's Ivana Dragicevic for the global affairs programme Global Fokus about the current situation in Britain's political landscape and chances for an orderly Brexit
Bale is a Professor of Politics at the School of Politics and International Relations (SPIR) at the Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and the co-director of its Mile End Institute.
He writes and talks extensively about Britain’s Tory and labour parties, European politics, and politics of immigration. He authored several books, including The Conservative Party: From Thatcher to Cameron; Five Year Mission: The Labour Party Under Ed Miliband; The Conservatives since 1945: the Drivers of Party Change; and Footsoldiers: Political Party Membership in the 21st Century.
