The first estimate of areas of important crops show that this year areas sown with wheat, sugar beets and potatoes are the same as in 2020, while areas sown with maize have increased and those sown with soya beans, rapeseed and sunflowers have decreased, according to the Croatian Bureau of Statistics.

Wheat has been sown on 145,000 hectares, sugar beets on 11,000 hectares, and potatoes on 9,000 hectares. Maize has been sown on 289,000 hectares, up 0.3% from 2020. Rapeseed has been sown on 31,000 hectares, down 26.2%, sunflowers on 38,000 hectares (-2.6%), and soya beans on 85,000 hectares (-1.2%).
