The Constitutional Court has rejected motions to assess the constitutionality of the Courts Act which were submitted by Social Democratic Party MP Arsen Bauk and professor Viktor Gotovac regarding the procedure for the election of the Supreme Court president.

Bauk argued that the Courts Act encroached on the work of the president of the republic.

The Constitutional Court also dismissed motions for assessing the constitutionality of a measure by the national COVID-19 crisis management team that suspended the business of gyms, fitness centres and dance schools to prevent the spread of the virus. The motions were filed by many companies which own gyms and dance schools.

Also dismissed was a motion filed by 36 MPs for assessing the constitutionality of the law protecting the population from infectious diseases with regard to fines that were given for violations of COVID restrictions.

Furthermore, the Court dismissed a motion for the constitutionality of a decision on the organisation of public passenger transport to curb the spread of COVID-19 filed by the Croatian Employers’ Association.
