The European Commission on Friday gave a greenlight for the use of the AstraZenca vaccine against COVID-19, after the vaccine was approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
This is the third approved vaccine against the novel coronavirus in the EU, after the ones produced by Pfizer and Moderna.
Of those three vaccines, Croatia has pre-ordered the highest amount of the AstraZeneca vaccine, 2.7 million doses.
The European Medicines Agency on Friday approved the use of the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine against COVID-19 in the Union for people older than 18, confirming that the vaccine is appropriate for elderly people too.
“EMA has recommended granting a conditional marketing authorisation for COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in people from 18 years of age,” the European regulator said in a press release.
