Acting Director at the Sisters of Mercy Hospital in Zagreb, Zoran Vatavuk, has replaced the incumbent head of the radiology department, Dijana Zadravec, the hospital said on Wednesday.

Vatavuk has taken over  the management over that department instead of Zadravec until a new head is appointed and a sufficient number of radiologists are secured for the entire hospital system to function normally, a press release said.

Escalation of problem with radiologists

“We all have witnessed the escalation of the problem with radiologists at our hospital, particularly in the clinic for treatment of tumors in Ilica Street. A certain number of radiologists left our hospital and went to work in other institutions, others announced they would be leaving soon too and the situation was beginning to develop to the point that our patients would not be able to receive timely services. I could not let that happen and my first step was to ensure regular services for our patients and optimum working conditions as far as possible for our colleagues,” underscored Vatavuk.

He reassured patients that they would be given all the necessary treatment in a timely fashion.
