Volume of Croatia's agricultural output increases

The volume of the gross agricultural production in Croatia has increased by 5 percent in 2018 compared to 2017, the national statistical office has recently reported.

The growth was on the back of 14.8 percent rise in the plant production whereas the volume of animal husbandry lessened by 6.5 percent.

Considering major segment of crop production, the maize production increased 37.7 percent, and wheat by 8.5 percent. Furthermore, the production of grapes jumped by 25.7 percent and soya by 18 percent.

Major elements in the animal husbandry saw a decline in 2018, apart from pig farming that increased by 5.8 percent.

Crop production accounts to 59.1 percent of the gross agricultural production, and animal husbandry for the remaining 40.9 percent.

The net amount of agricultural production in Croatia increased 4.1 percent last year.

The net volume of agricultural output is calculated when the gross volume is reduced by the value of products used for animal feeding.
