Croatia's tax authority says coronavirus epidemic slashed retail sales 17 pct

In the nine months of the coronavirus pandemic in Croatia, from 24 February to 22 November, the value of fiscalized retail receipts which are all automatically tracked by tax authorities dropped by little over 26 billion kuna (€3.4 billion), or 17 percent, compared to the same period the year before, indicating a sharp drop in retail sales.

In the period from February 24 to November 22 this year the number of fiscal receipts issued dropped by 24% and their value contracted by 17% year on year.

This year a total of 1.4 billion receipts were issued in that period with a value of HRK 128.8 billion compared to the same period last year when 1.9 billion receipts were issued with a value of HRK 154.8 billion.

Value of receipts last week down by 20 percent

From November 16 to 22 this year, the number of receipts in all sectors encompassed in the fiscalisation system, contracted by 20 percent year on year, falling to HRK 33.1 million while their value decreased by 11% or about HRK 369.2 million and amounted to HRK 3.03 billion.
