In February 2022 prices of goods and services increased by 6.3 percent year-on-year, making it the highest inflation rate on record since August 2008, the state statistics bureau said on Wednesday.
In August 2018, more than 13 years ago, inflation peaked at 7.1 percent.
In February 2022 inflation continued to increase. In January 2022 it went up by 5.7 percent, and in December 2021 by 5.5 percent. In November 2021 it was 4.8 percent, in October by 3.8 percent, and in September by 3.3 percent.
The highest year-on-year increase in prices was recorded in transport, of 10.7 percent, food and non-alcoholic beverages, of 10.0 percent, furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, of 6.5 percent, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, of 6.4 percent, restaurants and hotels, of 6.2 percent, recreation and culture, of 4 percent, clothing and footwear, of 3.5 percent, “miscellaneous goods and services,” of 3.4 percent, and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, of 3.3 percent.
