The head of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union's (HDZ) advisory council, Vladimir Seks, has proposed that formal proceedings be launched to declare Zoran Milanovic "temporarily incapacitated to hold the office of President of the Republic." Pročitaj više

Speaking to the RTL commercial television channel on Sunday, Seks said that a psychiatric examination should be conducted to assess “the mental capacity of the President of the Republic,” while the State Attorney’s Office (DORH) should look into “his criminal responsibility for crimes such as threats, blackmail, and attack on the constitutional order.”

Seks went on to call President Milanovic “a schemer, good for nothing and a bum.”

The President has mentioned Seks in his recent verbal attacks against Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandrokovic, and Milorad Pupovac, an MP from the Independent Democratic Serb Party. All three had earlier said they would not support Milanovic’s candidate for Supreme Court President, Zlata Djurdjevic.

Most party will not support the initiative

The political secretary of the opposition populist Most party, MP Nikola Grmoja, said on Sunday that this party would not support the initiative to remove President Milanovic from office.

“The President received over a million votes from Croatian people in a direct election and there should be very serious reasons for his removal,” Grmoja wrote on Facebook.

That reason certainly cannot be a bitter argument with Pupovac which came about because he “did not meet the expectations of the President of the Republic,” he added.

“To be honest, I like a fight with the gloves off. I like when someone speaks their mind and I’m not a fan of memorised empty phrases and Brussels newspeak,” Grmoja said.

“We, therefore, will not support Seks’s initiative, but I would be more than glad to raise my hand for finally removing the damage doer and UDBA (Yugoslav secret police) informer Vladimir Seks from Croatian politics and the judiciary,” Grmoja wrote.
