Opposition members of parliament handed in a no-confidence motion against Economy Minister Martina Dalić on Tuesday (March 20).
The motion, signed by the Most party secretary, Nikola Grmoja, was officially handed to the Speaker of Parliament. The motion was signed by 37 opposition MPs, including six opposition party caucuses and independents.
“The fact that (Agrokor crisis manager) Ante Ramljak left his post does not absolve Martina Dalić. There were no consequences for Ramljak, his company made money, I don’t see him suffering any damage,” Grmoja said in parliament, explaining the reasons for the no-confidence motion.
Ante Ramljak, the government-appointed crisis manager at the Agrokor food company, resigned from his post last month, after media reports discovered he had hired his own consultancy firm to assist in restructuring of the debt-ridden company.
The special law which had allowed the government to appoint Ramljak at the privately owned company was passed in April 2017 and was promoted by Economy Minister Martina Dalić.
“Somebody should shoulder the burden of political responsibility for this. It was Martina Dalić who picked Ante Ramljak for the job, and it was Dalić running the whole process, so she is the person who should face consequences,” Grmoja added.
