Starting Thursday, Uber will raise its prices in the Croatian cities of Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, Rijeka, Zadar and Sibenik, the company announced on Wednesday.

“With the approach of the tourist season, when millions of foreign tourists will visit Croatia, and almost three years after entering the Croatian market, we are traditionally preparing for the price adjustments in all the coastal cities, and, starting with this year, in Zagreb as well. We do this, among other reasons, to keep up with the general price flow on the entire market, but also to contribute to our goal to offer our customers an even better service with newer vehicles, and enable our partner-drivers higher profits,” the press release said.

“The changes we are implementing will improve the quality of service in Croatia so that all vehicles will be seven years old at most. We will further tighten our requirements for drivers with lower average scores, which will guarantee even safer and more comfortable rides. Because all these reasons, starting tomorrow, May 10 2018, at noon, we will raise the price of our services,” the release said.

The new prices for UberX in Zagreb will be 6 kuna (€0.8) for start, 3.60 kuna (€0.50) for each kilometre travelled, and 0.60 kuna (8 cents) for each minute of the ride.

“The new price means increased profits in all the businesses operating via Uber which will lead to additional recruitment in those companies and open up more business opportunities for investors. Precisely the stimulus of the local entrepreneurship, with constant increases in security, is one of our priorities,” the press release said.
