Croatian Police Director-General Nikola Milina said on Saturday that a Serbian army delegation was denied entry into Croatia earlier in the day because their visit had not been formally announced.

“I have information that a van carrying 11 military personnel, who had army uniforms in the vehicle, was stopped. We did not have official notification of their visit to Croatia and they were denied entry based on the Border Control Act. The police at Bajakovo (border crossing) were not notified,” Milina told the press on the sidelines of a ceremony marking the 29th anniversary of the formation of the Lucko Anti-Terrorist Unit.

He repeated that the Serbian army delegation did not meet the requirements for entry into Croatia because official visits must be announced.

The Tanjug news agency, citing the Serbian Defence Ministry, said that the Serbian army delegation was travelling to Jasenovac to commemorate Serbs killed in the Jasenovac concentration camp during the Second World War. It said that the visit had been announced.
