The Lipa association of taxpayers welcomes the announced tax cuts on income and profit tax as of next year, the association said in a press release.

“Lipa notes that according to announcements, in addition to reducing income tax brackets from 36 percent to 30 percent and from 24 percent to 20 percent, next year VAT will be reduced on those food products which are now taxed at 25 percent.”

“The Lipa association permanently advocates less tax burdens and supports this initiative. During this time of crisis and uncertainty, that is a good sign that the next government will not repeat the mistakes of some previous governments that raised taxes during crises and at the worst possible moment,” the press release said.

The association notes that with all of its activities over the past five years of its existence, it has shown just how much importance it attributes to reforms that have been postponed for too long and that one of the collateral consequences of those postponements is the massive emigration of the labour-active population.

The announcement for tax cuts “awakens hope that the government that will be formed soon will have more courage to implement reforms that have been promised so many times but never implemented, concerning the public administration, judiciary, health, pension system and so on.”

Lipa considers that the moment that Croatia is entering the ERM II with a stable government is ideal to implement reforms that have been postponed for too long but are now “necessary more than ever.”
