In the past 24 hours 15 people died in Slovenia as a consequence of Covid-19 and 398 new cases of the infection were registered, which is significantly less than the 807 cases registered one day prior to that but significantly fewer people were tested on Tuesday due to a public holiday in the country.
“The pandemic is still active in the entire world, and in Slovenia,” Eva Grlic from the national public health institute in Slovenia told a press conference on Wednesday.
According to Grlic, it is good that on the one hand the situation regarding the incidence rate in Slovenia is declining slowly and that the number of deaths has been reduced significantly while the situation with the number of patients in hospitals is still relatively high and is one of the highest in the European Union.
In the past 24 hours 2,007 PCR tests confirmed 398 new cases of the virus or 19.8% of positive results to the total number tested. There are currently 9,250 active cases in the country and the 14-day incidence rate is 437.
The average number of new cases in the past seven days is 606 and there are 621 patients in hospital treatment, 155 of whom are in intensive care units, the country’s health ministry has reported.
