Croatian government on Thursday all but scrapped the so-called environment levy charged for any fuel that omits bio-fuels in it, from 0.30 kuna (€0.4) to just 0.01 kuna per megajoule (MJ). The cut is expected to lower retail prices by 0.50 kuna per liter.
According to the current regulation, if a distributor/supplier of petrol and diesel fuel does not add a mandatory minimum share of bio-fuel, they are obliged to pay a “green levy” to the government’s Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency.
Fuel prices increased again on Tuesday with petrol costing 13 kuna per liter, a single-day jump of 0.82 kuna. The price of Eurodiesel jumped by 1.40 per liter while the price of diesel premium increased by 0.15 kuna per liter. The government said they expect fuel prices to start going down next week, state agency Hina said.
