Best examples of the century-long tradition of Czech design will be presented in Croatia for the first time as part of the Zagreb Design Week which will take place in Zagreb on May 11-20.

Titled “The Story of Czech Design: From Cubism to the 21st Century,” the exhibition, on display at the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum, will mark the centenary of the foundation of Czechoslovakia and will celebrate the design of everyday objects used by Czechs during the 20th century.

“The exhibition will provide an insight into the history of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic as seen through design, through everyday objects that will let visitors peer into the country’s social and political systems, as well as the interests of its people,” exhibition organisers said.

Visitors will have a chance to see first hand the quality of Czech design, based on artistic craft, innovation, and quality materials, elements which have made Czech design famous around the world.

The exhibition will premiere at the world’s biggest design festival, the Milano Design Week on April 17-22, and will then travel to Poland and Zagreb. After leaving Croatia’s capital, the exhibition will be shown in other European cities, including Paris, Helsinki, Sofia, Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna and Munich.
