Rail transport via the Sid-Tovarnik border crossing between Serbia and Croatia has been suspended as part of efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, the Serbian company Srbija Voz said on Sunday.

International trains running from Belgrade to Zagreb and on to Ljubljana will operate as far as Sid until further notice, the company said.

Some bus companies have already suspended their services towards Austria and France.

Bus services to destinations in Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina have been suspended after the two countries closed their borders, the Lasta bus company confirmed to Hina.

Serbian transport operators expect that the government, following developments surrounding transport restrictions in the region, will declare a temporary suspension of international transport.
