The travel information, which is provided on an advice basis by the Belgian Foreign Affairs, indicates that the Croatian region of Istria is currently the most successful region in curbing the spread of coronavirus.

The map included in that the travel information for departures from Belgium shows that currently Istria is the only region coloured green, which means that “travel is possible. Hygiene and social distancing rules still apply.”

Commenting on this information, Boris Miletic, the mayor of Pula, the biggest city in Istria, told state agency Hina on Wednesday evening that that the whole of the region was facing the coming days in which “all of us have to keep safe our health system.”

The head of the county’s Covid-19 crisis management team, Dino Kozlevac, underscores that residents of Istria have been wearing protective masks in closed spaces for three months, and those efforts are making results.
