NASA’s Mars rover Perseverance is set to land on Mars on Thursday, at a landing site in the Jezero Crater, named after small municipality in central Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On this occasion, the central Bosnian town is organizing an event, enabling its youth to follow the landing on Mars via live stream.
NASA decided to name the crater after Jezero among 80 proposals, and local authorities in this municipality were informed about the decision by US Ambassador to Bosnia, Eric Nelson, in November 2019.
He said this was an opportunity to help children and students realise the importance of science and technology in their future education.
The Perseverance rover was launched on July 30, 2020, and its estimated landing time is on February 18, 2021, at 8:15 am CET.
