Croatian police discovered a group of illegal migrants in the woods outside the municipality of Topusko, central Croatia, on Thursday, among whom was a child who had been stung by a hornet, the police said on Friday.

They were two migrant families without any ID on them. They told the police officers they were Afghan nationals.

The police found that one of the children had suffered a leg injury caused by a hornet sting. Since the migrants were found in rugged terrain, the police officers helped them get to a more accessible area where a medical team was waiting for them.

The child was given medical attention, and the police officers gave their food to the migrants who were visibly exhausted.

The police said that all the migrants had expressed their intention to formally seek asylum in Croatia, after which they were taken to the Reception Centre for Asylum Seekers on Friday.
