In the past 24 hours, Slovenia's health authorities have identified 205 new cases of the coronavirus infection, and four more deaths linked to COVID-19 have been reported, according to the information provided by the Slovenian government on Monday.
Epidemiologist Mateja Logar told a news conference that the situation in the country regarding the epidemic “is stable but not ideal.” Currently, 463 patients diagnosed with COVID are being treated in hospitals, 87 of whom are in intensive care wards. Since the start of the pandemic, 3,938 people have died in Slovenia from complications caused by the virus.
In the past seven days, there on average 699 cases daily.
As for the inoculation of residents against this infectious disease, Logar said that “the benefits from the vaccination are much higher than the risks of serious side-effects.”
“Rolling out vaccines is going as planned,” she said adding that administering AstraZeneca shots will continue, as most of the reported side-effects were mild reactions.
To date, 174,402 people in Slovenia have been vaccinated, and 83,867 of them have received both doses of the two-dose vaccines.
