Slovenia presented the Russian ambassador in Ljubljana on Wednesday with a protest note over the destruction of the building housing the Slovenian Consulate in Kharkiv, demanding compensation and reiterating its condemnation of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today again summoned Russian Ambassador Timur Eyvazov, and State Secretary Gasper Dovzan presented him with a protest note demanding an apology and compensation for the damage done, the Ministry said in a statement.
The building housing the Slovenian Consulate is located in the historic heart of Kharkiv, which was shelled on Tuesday.
Honorary Consul Anatoliy Bondarenko was not hurt in the attack and is safe.
Slovenia strongly condemns this unacceptable act and military aggression on a sovereign country by the Russian Federation. This is a gross violation of international law and human rights, and the destruction of civilian targets is a war crime, the statement said.
