Slovakia's Petra Vlhova won the FIS Alpine ski race Snow Queen Trophy 2022 on Mount Sljeme near Zagreb on Tuesday. American skier Mikaela Shifrin finished second, while Katharina Liensberger of Austria came in third.
This was Vlhova’s third consecutive victory in the women’s World Cup slalom in Zagreb. The 24-year-old Croatian skier, Leona Popovic, finished 7th, which was her personal best result in the Alpine Skiing World Cup.
There were no spectators on Mount Sljeme during the race due to the Covid pandemic this year. Last year, the Snow Queen Trophy women’s race was the most watched World Cup race of the last season, and its live broadcast drew 26.7 million viewers, more than the legendary Kitzbühel downhill race.
On Wednesday, the men’s slalom race will take place on Mount Sljeme.
